In the couple of years since I became certified as a
professional Life Coach I have struggle with the subject of how much amount to
charge Life coaches clients because there are 2 ways of looking at it and both
are equally valid and similarly problematical.
Firstly, there is the return on investment that Life
training can offer, numerous individual don't think twice on cost hundreds and
sometimes thousands of dollars on a vacation that they trust will help them
comfort their anxiety and make them feel good.
Therefore the rationale goes, that if spending a same amount
(or in some cases much less) on hiring a very good Life Coach, can achieve the
similar aim, but make it longer lasting, then certainly that has to be
advantageous?
That is definitely the approach I have utilized because
having a background in business it was all about return on investment.
In this way, by charging upwards every hour most Life
improvement are ruling out numbers of people that do not have that amount of
money to spend and that is a issue. Personally I became a Life Coach so I could
help people and it bothers me that some of the individual that most need my
help cannot afford it.
One way around this circumstance is for Life trainer to
offer a limited number of professional bono sessions every year. I have done
this for over 5 years and it is extremely gratifying to help someone that under
normal circumstances could not afford my services. It is likewise very tricky
to know which individuals to accept and which to turn down.
When I offered some free Life training by my blog 2 or 3
years prior I had some individuals apply. Now I have three times as many
readers and if I ran the same public offer would spend the next week reading
applications. No doubt numerous would be heart wrenching and saying 'No' would
not be entertaining.
One more option is to offer a slippy scale based on pay.
This is trickier because you either have to trust each client is being honest
or ask for proof. The former is probably to be exploited from time to time and
the latter can be embarrassing to the customers to ask to provide wage slips
etc.
The fact is, Life Coaching is neither too cheap, nor too
costly because it is always in the eye of the customer. If they get value for
money then it doesn't matter how much amount they spent, but it does concern me
that numerous people will never look to hire a Life Coach because they think it
is beyond their means.
